Fairtrade Fortnight will take place from the 23rd February – 8th March and will be celebrated with a series of nationwide events in schools and towns from Carndonagh to Clonakilty, from Carrick-on-Shannon to Clondalkin. Fairtrade Ireland will take over The Culture Box in Temple Bar, Dublin, and have planned a programme of events that will include educational talks, tasting workshops, coffee labs and film screenings, as well as a great place to pick up a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee!
Fairtrade will welcome two Fairtrade Farmer representatives (bio details included below) to Ireland for the fortnight, both of whom will speak at national and regional events. Chief Adam Tampuri is the Chair of Fairtrade Africa as well as being the traditional ruler of his locality in Ghana. Mr. Stephen Best is a banana farmer on the island of St. Lucia in the Windward Islands in the Caribbean.
As a brand new Fairtrade company Praire hopes that everyone will try to do a little bit this fortnight by making a conscious effort to support Fairtrade products at your local shop and supermarket. It will all make a difference to the farmers and producers in the developing world
